Welcome to CPGPS

CPGPS, the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Global Positioning Systems, is an international professional organization. Since  its creation in December 2001, membership numbers have been continually expended. Among its members are many highly respected experts in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) from leading academic institutions, government agencies and industry sectors worldwide. These members are very active in the international frontiers of research and innovation; and their work contributes directly to the advancement of modern satellite positioning and navigation technology. CPGPS members have made significant contributions to the international community through their publications, patents and award winning presentations at the international conference.

GPS professionals, students, and anyone interested in GPS or satellite positioning and navigation technologies, regardless of nationality, are welcome to join CPGPS. All members must recognize and follow the CPGPS Bylaws.

CPGPS Turns 10

2011 marks the 10 th anniversary of the birth of CPGPS. During the past ten years, CPGPS experienced tremendous growth to become an internationally recognized professional organization and contributed immensely to the development of GNSS research and industry. To celebrate a decade of remarkable achievements, CPGPS successfully launched a host of events throughout the year.

On May 19, 2011, CPGPS held a formal dinner banquet at the 2 nd Chinese Satellite Navigation Conference (CSNC) in Shanghai. Over 150 members and guests attended the dinner. Head of the Beidou Management Office Mr. Run Chengqi, Chinese National Academy members Dr. Yang Yuanxi and Dr. Liu Jingnan, Shanghai HuaCe Navigation Technology Ltd. CEO Mr. Zhao Yanping, and several former CPGPS presidents spoke at the well-attended event.

On September 20, 2011, CPGPS presented the first Compass Workshop in conjunction with the 2011 Institute of Navigation Global Navigation Satellite Conference (GNSS) in Portland, Oregon. The Workshop was co-chaired by Dr. Jade Morton of Miami University and Dr. Liu Jingnan of Wuhan University and sponsored by Shanghai Huace Navigation Technology Ltd. Dr. Ding Xiancheng from the China Electronics Group, Dr. Yang Yuanxi from China National Administration of GNSS and Applications, Dr. Chen Jinping from Beijing Global Information Center of Application and Exploitation, Ms. Liu Qing from Qinghua University, Dr. Kou Yanhong from Beihang University, and Mr. Zhao Yanping from Shanghai Huace Navigation Technology Ltd. gave presentations on a wide range of topics including the current status of and outlook for Compass, Compass/GPS position accuracy, Compass timing and coordinate systems, integrity monitoring, signal tracking, and Compass industry development trend. Over 120 people attended this event.

CPGPS also hold its traditional annual dinner banquet on September 22, 2011 in Portland during the ION GNSS. This year’s banquet is attended by a record number of students and scholars. Some of the Compass Workshop presenters joined the dinner banquet. Dr. Dr. Ding Xiancheng and Dr. Yang Yuanxi both spoke to the attendees, offered well wishes to CPGPS members, and encouraged overseas Chinese scholars to consider opportunities in China.

2010 CPGPS GNSS Technical Forum was held in Shanghai successfully!

Chinese Professionals in Global Positioning Systems (CPGPS) held its Fourth Technical Forum on August 18-20 in Shanghai, China. Over 450 people attended the Forum. A total of 154 presentations were made in 18 technical sessions divided among six parallel tracks during the two full-day conference. Among them, 81 papers were submitted by students. Nine student papers were selected to receive Best Student Paper awards. While the majority of the participants are from China, the Forum has representations from North America, Europe, Australia, and other Asia countries. Prominent experts in GNSS and related fields from Chinese Academic of Science and China Satellite Navigation Engineering Center spoke at the plenary session. A discussion panel was held near the end of the conference to address questions and issues relating to strategies to improve future CPGPS Forums as well as the current development trend in GNSS science, engineering, education, and outreach. The Forum is jointly sponsored by CPGPS (International Association of Chinese Professionals in Global Positioning Systems), the Chinese National Remote Sensing Center, a department of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Wuhan University National Engineering Research Center for Satellite Positioning Systems, the Institute of Navigation, and the International Association of Geodesy.
